Clinique Rinse-off Foaming Cleanser

Friday, 25 February 2011

I thought I would do a review on the Clinique Foaming Cleanser since I have been using it for around 6 months now.

I received it last summer, at the same time as when I bought the Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel. It was a sample size, part of the gift with purchase that was going on at the time.

The original tube comes with 5fl.oz or 150ml of product. It is a standard tube which you flip the lid off of and squeeze out the product.

The consistency of the cleanser is a little thick and quite creamy. It also looks kind of pearly which I found a little strange.

I used just a small amount and found that it foamed up amazingly. I always prefer my cleansers to foam otherwise I kind of feel like it doesn't do its job- which I'm sure isn't true in some cases but that's just me!

When I washed the cleanser off I really felt like it got all excess make up off. My face felt squeaky clean. I know some people don't like the feeling and might say it feels too clean but I honestly didn't feel that way. My husband was also saying how much softer my skin feels.

I generally have oily skin but I do get dry flakiness around my nose at times. Using this cleanser has helped so much to keep the flakiness away and I feel like my face is being cleansed thoroughly.

When applying lotions and make up afterwards, my skin felt a lot smoother and I really noticed a difference in how the make up applied. I've been using this cleanser for a while now and my skin feels and looks better than it ever has.

The only downside I feel is the price. It costs £15 and that is quite pricey when cleansers need to be bought a lot more often than other skincare products. Only a little is needed each time though so it will last a while.

I would definitely recommend this cleanser. Having tried quite a lot of cleansers and face washes I do wish I had found this sooner.

The Body Shop Haul

Thursday, 17 February 2011

I have been spending a lot of time with my new little niece who is called Sualiha. It is quite an unusual name (arabic) and it means virtuous/good. It suits her perfectly. She is such a tiny, beautiful little girl!

Recently there was a special online offer on The Body Shop website where you get 30% off all products and free delivery. I couldn't pass up this opportunity so I got a few things which I had my eye on for a while.

I needed some new oils for my burner so I got a couple of those. I got them in Pomegranate & Raspberry and Jasmine & White Frangipani. I realised I prefer fruity scents more; although the Jasmine oil isn't too bad but it reminds me of something that puts me off it.. I can't remember what it is though which isn't very helpful!

I also got the room/linen/body spray in Jasmine & Frangipani. I thought it would be nice for my bedroom, but I just can't love the smell. That isn't going to stop me from using it though- I don't like wasting products and I don't hate the scent so it shouldn't really be a problem.

I also purchased the Japanese Cherry Blossom Eau De Toilette. This is a smell I've always loved and got the large set for my sister a couple of months ago. When this offer was on I had to get it.
This is one of my favourite Body Shop scents. The other one being a cherry scent which I wore at school that was available a long time ago but got discontinued. I have been wearing it for the last few days and love it.

I really wish there was a Bath and Body Works in the UK. I would be all over their products! A lot of their products are available on Ebay but they are so overpriced, it just isn't worth it. The Body Shop has some lovely products but I sometimes feel like their range is quite limited.

That is all for my little haul =)

Olay Pro-X Cleansing System

Thursday, 10 February 2011

A lot of people have been doing reviews on the Clarisonic cleansing system. I did consider buying it but I didn't really think it was worth it. I pretty much had guessed that sooner or later another company would come up with something like it at a better price... and here it is!

So, the Olay Pro-X Cleansing System. It retails at around $29.99. It isn't available here in the UK yet and I'm not sure if it ever will be, but I managed to get a hold of it on Ebay.

I was really excited about this because I had seen so many good reviews on it on MakeupAlley. I think in my mind I had already hyped it up so much that I didn't think anything else except positive things.
The box comes with the cleansing tool, a brush head that attaches to it, a spare brush head, two AA batteries, a sample sized face wash and a full size of the face wash too.

It has two buttons on the handle. The top one is the power button which turns on and off. There are two speed settings and the bottom button changes them.
The brush head pretty much clicks on very easily and once turned on, rotates around.
This is a battery operated tool which requires two AA batteries. The bottom part slides off (with a little difficulty and some jiggling about) and that is where the batteries go.

I went straight to the bathroom to wash my face using this as soon as I got it. The face wash I didn't think was that special.. I prefer my Clinique foaming face wash. I used the lower setting and in one minute went over my whole face with it. Rinsing my face off I already noticed how much smoother my skin felt.

Once I had dried my face I was amazed. I'm definitely not exaggerating when I say that my skin had never felt this smooth before. I always had flakiness on my skin and thought that my skin never felt or looked that clean. This cleansing system smoothed out my skin like no other cleanser.

After using it for a few days I'm still in love with it, I use it once a day now, before I go to bed, after taking all my make up off. My foundation glides on much more smoothly and I feel like it looks so much better. At the end of the day my make up still looks good and it never did before.

I would completely recommend this cleansing system. It is so cheap for what it does and I think I would rather go for something like this that is more affordable and definitely does what it advertises.

Collective Haul

Wednesday, 9 February 2011

I've had so much going on recently. My sister had a baby girl who is amazingly beautiful. She is so tiny and pretty, I'm loving being an aunty again.

Being busy usually never stops me from shopping.. I don't know whether that's a good thing or not!

I was at the MAC counter in Debenham and got a blusher and a lipstick.
I wanted a pink blush that I could wear every day, something that wasn't too bright. The SA was really lovely and helped me pick out a shade that would look good on my skin, which is 'Dame'. I don't know why I don't have this already; it is a really popular blusher.
I also got 'Jubilee' lipstick which is a lustre. It is the perfect nude for my skin tone and has a nice sheen.
There is a really good website called Love Makeup who I buy a lot of products from that I either can't get my hands on because they only sell in the U.S or they are out of stock elsewhere.
I bought some make up along with some brushes.
The NYX lipstick is in 'Thalia'. On my lips it is a plummy nude. As all NYX lipsticks, this is also very creamy (which I love).
The lipgloss is in 'African Queen'. It is a purple/fuchsia with blue shimmer. I am in love with this lipgloss. It is so different to all the nudes and pinks that I have. I don't apply too much because I feel it looks overdone but on a nude lipstick it looks amazing!
I also bought an eyeshadow by Urban Decay in the colour 'Zero'. This is not as pigmented as Mac's 'Carbon' but it is nice for a smokey eye.
Lastly, I got a brush set, also from Love Makeup.

This is the Sigmax brush set. The Sigma website does offer delivery to the UK but it can take a long time to arrive which is why I ordered from here.
The set comes with 3 brushes which Sigma claim give a 'HD' effect when applying face make up. I think they are absolutely right! I don't think I have ever used brushes that make my skin look so smooth and flawless. All the brushes are so soft. I have only used them for one day, but I am impressed.
The set also came with a free eye blending brush. This is also really soft  but I have yet to use it. I do think it will be good for blending at the crease.

That is all for my haul. I have a review on the new Olay Pro-x Cleansing System coming soon. It isn't available in the UK yet but I managed to get a hold of it recently.

Collective Haul/Review

Tuesday, 1 February 2011

England has seen some really dull months but it was lovely to wake up to some sunshine this morning. I've been pretty busy in the last few days with a birthday party and a visit from my mum so it took some time for me to actually get the opportunity to get a blog post up.

I purchased Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and a mineralised blush from Accessorize new make-up range at Boots.

I'm really looking forward to trying the foundation because I have seen some really good reviews on it, but I've got a feeling it won't be my shade. I'm an nw30 and this foundation is in '53 Beige Beige' and it does look somewhat lighter.

The blush is in shade 'Scarlet' and it is gorgeous! It is a bright-baby pink with some gold veining and I really love it. The texture is smooth and it blends beautifully on my skin.

I'm also really liking the NYC bronzer in 'Sunny' which I got online from Fragrance Direct. I don't wear much bronzer usually because I'm quite tan already and I usually feel like it doesn't look right on me. This bronzer however looks really good on my skin and I'm enjoying it.

Lastly, Realness of Concealness. I actually wasn't intending to buy this but I wanted to try out a few of the products, so I bought this from Debenhams (a department store) but I'm a little disappointed.

This kit comes with High Beam, Lip plump, Ooh La Lift, Lemon-aid and Bo-ing concealer. I already own Bo-ing so that was nothing new but the only thing I was really impressed with was High Beam. It is really pretty and doesn't look overdone at all as a highlighter.

Lip plump is actually a primer and although the name is pretty misleading I think it worked quite well for keeping my lipstick on longer than usual. It isn't all that special though. Ooh la lift again isn't that good, I didn't really see it doing anything to make my under-eye area look any better.

Although Lemon-aid did erase the veins on my eyelids, it made my eyeshadow crease so there is no way I would use it on a daily basis. Boi-ing is a decent concealer for spots and scarring, I wouldn't recommend it for under the eyes though because it does look caked on as it's so thick.

I probably wouldn't recommend getting this kit, it isn't that bad but it is pretty pricey for what you get, I think it was £23.50. There isn't much in the little bottles at all. High Beam is definitely worth buying though and I think it would suit all skin tones.

So much talk about make up but I haven't even got any on today. I'm having one of those 'let your skin breathe' days which is nice to do once in a while!
