Products I Regret Buying

Monday, 7 March 2011
Hiya,

Isn't it frustrating when you hype up a product in your mind and then you're let down? I'm sure it has happened to everyone at least once.

I have five that I bought, not necessarily always on a whim, but I did have certain expectations of them.. So I'll get right in to it.

1. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle
This is my first and only MSF. I've never tried any of the limited edition ones mainly because I never thought I would have a use for them. I did end up getting this one because I thought it had to be good if it is permanent. I used this as a highlight a couple of times but it is just way too glittery for me. It goes everywhere and now it just sits in my drawers not being used.

2. Dior Hydra Life Tinted Moisturiser
Do I regret this! I thought it would be great last summer.. Nope, it made me orange after just a couple of hours. It was not worth the money at all.
I think the shade was a little too dark for me as well. I said as much when the Sales Assistant was helping me but she was insistent that this was the perfect shade. So, stupidly I went along with her suggestion. Now I don't know what to do with it.

3. BeneFit You Rebel
Again, I think this oxidises and looks terrible on me. It smells a little funny too but I could get over that if the actual product was any good.

4. ELF Primer and Liner Sealer
The liner sealer is actually pretty good to be honest, it is the primer side that I really don't like. It made my eye shadow crease so quickly, I just couldn't get on with it. I wouldn't spend my money on this for the liner sealer either because I just never use it. I have got the mineral primer and the original one too and they are both really good.

5. Urban Decay Foreshadow Palette
I feel a little bad for including this because the colours are not too bad.
Midnight cowboy is fallout crazy otherwise it would have been a gorgeous colour. The rest are actually pretty and pigmented but since I bought it a couple of years ago, I have never found myself reaching for it. I feel like it was a waste of money and I've only used it once or twice.

I'm not sure what to do with these items, maybe have a blog sale one day?
Are there any products that you regret buying?

  1. the Dior tinted moisturizer really does look orange! it's a pitty the sales assistant insisted you get this shade, even though you disagreed and it's the wrong colour, as they are supposed to be their to help, eesshhh! lol

  5. Hey there!

I know what you mean about the UD Foreshadow. About two years ago I bought it from another beauty addict & used it twice since then. Although I also find the colors really nice - except for Midnight Cowboy.
A lady on MUA descibed it so well, she wont reach for the palette because she knows she'll try to use MC again, and end up totally frustrated because of it. At least, it is the same with me. Yet I didn't wanna sell it because of the other three shades.
Two weeks ago I actually took the plunge and kicked the cowboy out of its pan, replacing it very carefully with a smooth, shimmery beige by Artdeco. My aversion against the palette has already decreased a lot ^^
I did the same to the vile glitter monster called Nude Beach in the Too Faced Neutral.. quite dyi, but I guess Im into that.

  6. That is a great idea, but to be honest I feel like I still won't use it. I think I read that review on MUA and it is spot on! It's up for sale now so hopefully it will be of use to someone x

  7. I feel the same about the ELF primer. I used it once and thought it was okay then the next time I used it it made my eyeshadow crease within ten minutes :/
