First Impressions: ELF Studio Blush 'Pink Passion'

Thursday, 30 June 2011

I really thought long and hard before buying the ELF blush in 'Pink Passion'. This is mainly because it is one of the brightest blushes I have seen and I was worried about how it would look on me.
At first glance, when I took the blush out of the package it came in, I really did get a bit of a shock! I don't think the photo actually does the colour much justice because it is way brighter than that! It is a gorgeous hot pink which seems to be a matte.

On swatching it, I did like the smoothness of it and I actually think it will look really pretty once applied. I will be using a light hand though or I'll end up looking like a clown!

Would you wear a blush like this or is it too daring for you?

First Impressions: Glossy Box (June)

Tuesday, 28 June 2011

I received my Glossybox recently and, just like the previous one, thought I would share with you all what I think of it.

I was pretty excited about receiving this box because the previous one was really good. I guess it would be pretty clear to anyone that you can't get much better than a full size NARS product. This time around, although I really thought it was worth it, I also do think it could have been better.

1. Mama Mio (Omega Body Buff)
This product is an exfoliator which can be used all over the body to get rid of dead skin cells and give you softer feeling skin. It contains a lot of lovely sounding things which hopefully will work well too!

This is a sample size product (worth £30!) and it is an anti-ageing serum which contains EGF which gives you younger looking skin. I'm not sure how well that will work but I doubt I have too much to worry about at the age of 25!

3. PERLES DE LALIQUE Eau de Parfum
This perfume is a more mature scent, which isn't necessarily bad, but it is not something I would normally wear. I wouldn't class it as a bad product though because I definitely will be giving it a try.

This is a really pretty magenta shade with multi-coloured glitter. I was very impressed with this, especially because I really love the quality of OPI nail polishes.

This dry shampoo was a bit of a disappointment if I'm honest. It is not a luxury product and a sample size like this is available at Superdug or Boots for £1.50.

I do hope that next month the box will contain something that will get me excited about receiving it each month.

What do you think?

My Favourite Highlighters

Friday, 24 June 2011

I have used many highlighters over the years, both from high street brands and higher end ones. Not a lot of them really stood out to me because I was always on the lookout for one that gave me a pretty glow without looking fake.

I now have two highlighters that work beautifully for my skin tone.

The first one is 'Sugarbomb' which is one BeneFit's boxed powders. It has four different shades which you swirl together to acheive the shade in the photo above. For fairer skinned women it would probably work well as a blusher but for me it is a really pretty highlight!

The second is 'Golden Sand' by Accessorize which is in fact a bronzer but I definitely can't see myself using it for this purpose! It is probably my most favourite highlighter out of the two. I haven't found anything similar to this that works so perfectly for me.

'Sugarbomb' is priced at £23.50- pretty steep but worth it! The Accessorize bronzer/highlight is a mere £7 which is a bargain for such a fantastic product.

What is your favourite highlighter?

Review: MAC Fix+

Thursday, 23 June 2011

I have heard so much about MAC's Fix+ but I never wanted to buy it myself. I always thought it would be a waste of money and that it would never work for me.

Let me tell you, I could not have been more wrong!

When I was looking around for a good make up setting spray, I did a lot of research. I already have the Vitamin E Face Mist by The Body Shop and although it refreshed my skin, I didn't feel like it set my make up to stay on longer.

I did find that almost everywhere I looked, especially make up artists, they loved MAC's Fix+. I decided to invest in it, to see what the fuss was all about.

I have been using it religiously every time I do my make up since I got it. The mist from the spray is quite fine which is a plus. Once it dries on my face, it makes quite a difference to my make up. I get a more dewy finish but it isn't greasy or oily looking at all. I also feel like my make up looks a lot more natural.

My make up usually doesn't take very long to start showing signs of oiliness. It also tends to move around which is so disappointing when you take the time to apply it every morning. With the use of this spray, I definitely saw a difference! It lasted a lot longer than normal, although I still had to blot as normal.

I now use this spray every day without fail. It has definitely made a big difference to my daily routine and I feel a lot more confident about the way my skin looks on my face.

I would probably buy again, unless I find a cheaper alternative which is just as good, any suggestions?

First Impressions: ELF Tinted Lip Conditioners

Tuesday, 21 June 2011

I recently made a big order from ELF Cosmetics when they had a special offer on. From this order I purchased two Tinted Lip Conditioners from the studio line. These are pretty new on the site and I had been wanting them for a while.

Romantic Rouge, Mellow Melon
I absolutely love the scent of these lip conditioners, which is kind of sweet. The pigmentation in both products is really good for it being a 'tint'. Both shades suit my skin tone which is something I'm really happy about. They also seem to wear very well and moisturise my lips.

For £3.50 each, so far they seem to be worth it. I guess time will tell and I really hope they don't dry out!

NOTD: O.P.I Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous

Monday, 20 June 2011

Just thought I would do a quick NOTD today. I got this shade as part of the Swiss Collection by O.P.I and I really love it! It is unlike any shade I've worn before but it is so pretty!

Don't mind the Henna that I have on, as you might know from previous posts, I was at a wedding last week and so it is the tradition to wear Henna on special occasions.

Anyway, Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous is a gunmetal shade with glitter but the glitter is so tiny, it looks gorgeous! Although it isn't a very summery shade, it is definitely one that I really enjoy wearing.

I applied three coats to get it to look exactly how it is in the bottle. It dries super quick and doesn't chip for days!

Haul: New MUA Professional Products

Friday, 17 June 2011

I was pretty excited when I first heard about the new line of make up MUA were coming out with. I wasn't able to go in to the Superdrug store so I ordered a few things online.

I purchased the 'Starry Night' Palette because I already have a few neutral palettes and didn't need another one. I do however, love smokey eyes so I thought this would be the perfect palette for me. The colours look gorgeous and they are very pigmented.

I will have swatches up in a separate post; I mainly just wanted to get this post up because I knew I wouldn't have time later on today.

I also purchased the new Extreme Curl Mascara.
Straight off, opening it I realised that this mascara is not for me. I never use the normal bristled mascaras because they always make my eyelashes look spidery so the rubbery ones work best for me. I'll probably give it to my sister but I wish there had been an indication on the website of which kind of mascara it is.

The palette was just £4 and the mascara was £2. What a bargain!

Have you purchased any MUA products from the new line yet?

Review: All for Eve lipstick

I received the All for Eve lipstick in last months' Glossybox. I like my red lipsticks because for some reason, they really go well with my skin tone, especially reds like this one.
I also wore this lipstick to a wedding and I loved how it looked with my outfit. It is really pigmented and so moisturising! It is also really easy to apply as it is so smooth.

It is a red with slight pink undertones and it seems to be the sort of shade that would suit most people.

I'm really glad it came with the Glossybox because it is unlikely I would have purchased it otherwise. Now that I have tried it there is no doubt that I will repurchase once I have run out!

It is priced at £10.50 which is a price I would be willing to pay for a product like this. You can buy it at

Lush and No7 Haul

Wednesday, 15 June 2011

I picked up a few things at Meadowhall last Friday and wanted to quickly share them with you.

At Lush I got the Comforter and French Kiss bubble bars. I love the Comforter and it is always a must whenever I pop in to Lush. I'm excited to try French Kiss as it is the first time I have gotten it.

Honey I Washed The Kids is another favourite of mine. I love sweet smelling products so this fits right in!

If you would like a review of the bubble bars, do let me know and I'll take some pictures when I use them, it's always helpful to see how they look when in the bath.

I also picked up a No7 lipstick because I had a £5 voucher for any No7 products and 'had to' use it!
This is in the shade 'Bare'. Now, I don't usually go for browner shades in lipstick but there was nothing else that I really liked the look of or a shade that I didn't have already. This isn't a full on brown anyway so I'm hoping it will look okay on my skin tone.

That is all I got from my Meadowhall trip- apart from the Glamour magazines which you can see here.

What are your favourite products from Lush?

Glamour Magazine Freebie!

Tuesday, 14 June 2011

I was in Meadowhall shopping centre last week and managed to get a hold of the new Glamour magazine which contained products from BeneFit as a free gift. This was something I had been waiting for so I could try them out.

Since I already have High Beam I purchased two magazines which contained Benetint and Posietint.

Left- benetint, Right- posietint
These are both cheek stains and come with 4ml of product in each bottle. I think both these products will last a long time as you don't really need too much. These are each worth around £9 which is pretty good considering the magazine costs only £2 each! I love the BeneFit free gifts Glamour give each year!

Review: GOSH Foundation Primer Cream

Monday, 13 June 2011

I have used the MAC Prep+Prime Skin Base for the longest time but recently felt like it didn't make my make up stay on for that long. I don't really like the primers that are gel-like in consistency which is why I picked up the GOSH Foundation Primer Cream.

I did feature this in my May Favourites post which pretty much tells you what I think of it.

It is white, very creamy, and not greasy feeling at all. On the contrary I feel like it makes my skin feel very smooth and silky.

Although I have been wearing it under make up for a few weeks now, I really tested it out yesterday when I went to a wedding. I applied my make up at 7.30am and was in the car for three hours. The wedding lasted until 8pm when we left to get back home. By the end of the day, after all the craziness, my face still looked absolutely fine! I do have very oily skin so I definitely have to blot every few hours but my make up actually stayed put all day! It also made my skin look amazing and I even had comments from others on how good my make up was looking, which of course I was chuffed about!

The price of this primer is £12.99 which is pretty expensive for a high street/drugstore primer (still cheaper than my old MAC one) but I would definitely repurchase it.
