Review: Sigma Miss Taylor Kabuki Brush

Wednesday, 27 July 2011

I was sent the Miss Taylor Kabuki brush by Sigma a few weeks ago. I had a pretty good idea of what it would be like beforehand because I already have the Sigmax F80 flat top kabuki brush and had heard it was pretty much the same.

I had heard right! This brush is exactly the same as the F80! I don't think I can say enough good things about it because it is the brush I use every day to apply foundation and I love how it gives my face a smooth flawless look.

The bristles are soft and they don't shed or bleed.

I think this brush is great for me because I can take it around with me without worrying about it getting damaged. When closed, it is so compact and will fit in to your handbag very easily.

A great travel version of the F80, I totally recommend it!

Haul: ELF

Tuesday, 26 July 2011

I took advantage of the 25% off sale during the weekend and picked up a few items I had been wanting to try.
The foundation has had some good reviews so that was definitely one of the first products added to my cart!

I got the shade 'Sand' which looks like it will suit me perfectly. It seems to blend well and is nice and creamy. I will have a full review up once I have used it a few times.

The Studio Matte Lip Colour in 'Tea Rose' was also a new product I had been wanting to try. The shade is very pretty but I have yet to see if it will suit me or not.

The zit zapper was something I had my eye on for some time. I really hope this works well!

Oh my Gosh! I am so glad I bought this lipstick! I love the mineral lipsticks by ELF and 'Fiery Fuchsia' is a gorgeous deep rosy pink with silver shimmer. I didn't expect it to be this pretty but I can't wait to try it out!

I didn't get too much, but I'm sticking to a budget these days.. well, trying to anyway!

Have you tried any of these products? Any opinions?

Lipstick's I am loving right now

Saturday, 23 July 2011

There are two lipsticks that I have been wearing constantly for the last month or so. Usually, I am always one to change my lip products around a lot because I love experimenting with different shades. I have just found myself wearing two that I find are most flattering on my skin tone when I want to wear a neutral shade.

Both lipsticks are on opposite ends in relation to the price. MAC lipsticks retail at £13.50 whereas lipsticks by Natural Collection are £1.99.

I find that both of these lipsticks are moisturising and creamy. They don't settle into the lines of my lips and look so pretty and natural!
For every day wear, I think these two lipsticks surpass any other ones I have used before. I feel so comfortable wearing them and although 'Rosy Raisin' by ELF is also a favourite of mine, I haven't found myself wearing it that often lately.

I am really glad I purchased the Natural Collection lipstick; I probably wouldn't have at all if I hadn't watched ThePersianBabe's video on her favourite lipsticks!

What lipsticks are you really enjoying right now?

Review: Sleek Sunset Palette

I only discovered how good Sleek eye shadows are around 6 months ago when I saw some swatches on a blog (I can't quite remember which one). Since then, I have been smitten!

The Sunset palette is one that I haven't seen before at stores and when I did, I couldn't leave without it.

It is pretty obvious that these shades are gorgeous! Sleek tends to have the matte black eye shadow in most palette's and this one does too.

I really love how consistently pigmented Sleek eye shadows are. They are so soft and silky. They glide on the eye lids so easily and blend beautifully.

The matte black shadow in this palette is however, slightly more pigmented than one that I have in the Storm palette. I found this to be a little odd but it isn't really a problem.

I especially love how wearable the eye shadows in this palette are! The shades are great to use on a daily basis with a few that will give you a nice pop of colour.

I would always have to recommend Sleek for eye shadows; they are fantastic in pigment and colour and the price is always so reasonable!

Do you own any Sleek palettes? Do you like them?

First Impressions: Glossy Box- July

Thursday, 21 July 2011

I was so excited to receive this months' Glossybox because I was intrigued to know what would be inside. There was a lot of controversy over June's box but I personally was quite happy with what I had received. This month, I think it is unlikely very many will be disappointed with what they get.

  1. Weleda Pomegranate Regenerating Body Oil

This is a full sized 100ml product which retails at £19.95. It is an oil for application all over the body which claims to elasticise, hydrate and smoothen skin. I have used Weleda products before and have not had anything to complain about. I'm looking forward to seeing how well this works out.

2. Xen-Tan Deep Bronze Luxe- Dark
This is a 30ml self-tanner that I probably will never use. It is probably the only disappointing product for me. I never use tanning products so it isn't for me but I'm pretty sure a lot of Glossy Box customers do use them so it will impress most! The full size 236ml retails at around £15-20.

3. Nouveau Strip Lashes

I am not a regular user of fake eye lashes but on special occasions I do like to wear them. These ones in particular are not too crazy looking so I will definitely be wearing them at some point. I'm not too sure about the usual price of these lashes.

4. Ciate Nail Enamel- Kitten Heels 036
I was really surprised to see this nail polish. The main reason is because it was only a couple of days ago that I was thinking about this brand and wondering whether or not I should try one of them out! I'm definitely very happy with this. It has a flat brush too which is something I like. This retails at £9.

5. Illamasqua Sheer Lip gloss- Explode

This is a shade that I would never normally purchase. I feel like these shades don't suit my skin tone but having swatched it, I feel like it has a really pretty iridescence to it which will look really good on top of a lipstick or even on its own when applied lightly.  This normally sells for £13.

Overall, I am really pleased with this box. I wasn't expecting it to be this good but it definitely surpassed my expectations.

What do you think of the products this month?

First Impressions: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Petticoat

Wednesday, 20 July 2011

At a recent blog sale, I purchased a Mineralize Skinfinish that I had been wanting for a long time! 'Petticoat' is a limited edition product that was sold in a few collections over the years. It has always been a popular MSF and sold out pretty quickly every time.
Karrisx sent the MSF in the cutest little package; zebra print too which (as I'm sure you can tell!) is something I'm definitely fond of!

I love how this MSF looks. It is a gorgeous rusty raspberry shade which I think is very unique and beautiful.
I think this will be gorgeous as a shimmery blush but also a great highlighter if you apply it from the lighter areas.

As a first impression, I am liking this a lot especially because it will be a product I can use for different purposes.

What do you think of it?

Review: ELF Conditioning Lip Balms

Monday, 18 July 2011

I have had my Conditioning Lip Balms by ELF for around a month now so that has given me plenty of time to figure out whether I like them or not. I definitely did have high hopes for them because I had seen a lot of positive reviews on them.
Left- Romantic Rouge, Right- Mellow Melon
I picked 'Romantic Rouge' because firstly, rosy/ red shades do tend to suit me quite well and secondly, my lips are a little pigmented so it wouldn't look too crazy on me either. 'Mellow Melon' is a shade which is one of the more popular ones and that was the reason behind this purchase as I thought it must look good to be so in demand!

On using these for the first time, I noticed how smooth the consistency was and how easily they glide on to the lips. The pigmentation in each shade is also pretty good and I could definitely differentiate between the colours.

All shades of these lip balms have the same scent, which is sweet and sugary. I personally like the smell and am pretty sure most of you would!

Lastly, I did feel like they moisturise my lips but I mainly like them for being a lip product I can quickly slap on if I am in a hurry. They do condition and hydrate, but not as much as maybe my Korres lip butter. I would compare it to, and think it is very similar in that way to the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioners. This is definitely a cheaper option (£3.50) and the colours are so pretty!

As an afterthought, I decided to mix both shades together to see how it would look..
Very pretty, no?

What do you think of them?
