Review: Too Faced Natural Eye Palette

Monday, 8 August 2011
Hiya,

For so many months, we have all seen and read so much about the Urban Decay Naked Palette. I too, have been one to rave about it whenever I spoke to someone about make up. It is definitely an all time favourite of mine. However, after using it non-stop for a few months, I wanted to try out eye shadows from a different brand.

I had been seeing many reviews on the Too Faced Natural Eye palette which, although has been compared to the Naked palette, it was always pointed out how very different they both are.
I would have to agree! Although this is also a neutral's palette, the shade's are not the same. There are a few that can be compared, but most of them are unique.

What I like about this palette is that it is pretty compact- enough for it not to take up too much space when travelling. It is also very pretty looking.

It comes with three little cards which tell you where to apply the eye shadows. I honestly have not even read them yet.

The eye shadows are smooth and silky feeling but not at all chalky. The matte shades (top row) are very blend-able and I particularly like the middle shade, 'Velvet Revolver' for blending shades together. It is also very similar to Urban Decay's 'Naked' eye shadow.

The bottom two rows have got to be my favourite. I love 'Silk Teddy' as a lid colour. 'Push Up', 'Honey Pot' and 'Cocoa Puff' are also just gorgeous!

The one shade that I am not particularly attracted to is 'Nude Beach'. It is a lovely shade but the fallout is crazy! It is just too glittery and I don't see myself using it at all.

This palette retails at £23 which I do think is very expensive.

Overall, I like the palette but it is highly unlikely that I will repurchase.

What do you think?

  5. It's ok but if someone wanted to buy a pricey neutrals palette i would recommend tha naked palette from urban decay. I got mine from lookfantastic and the service was amazing, fast shipping to greece.

  7. These colors are sooo pretty! I got the naked palette about a month ago and I love it! But I really want to try this too! The naked palette was $48 and this one here is $35. I still want it though!

  12. I finally got to Sephora to swatch these all and decided I only want the Naked and the NEW Smokey palette. The other colors just didn't pop enough for me.

@ Amy - From what I can remember the eyeshadows themselves are more or less equivalent in size but of course you get 9 shadows with the TF palettes and 12 with the UD. The price difference renders them about equal IMO.

  16. I love the look of this but that chunky shade does put me off. I wonder if the other similar palette they do (I think it's Naked?) has better textures x

  18. Amy, I feel like the Naked palette is better value because you get a brush and UD primer potion as well. This is still a pretty palette though.

Claire, I took a look at the Naked palette but went for this one because it looked much nicer x
