Boots, Superdrug and Debenhams Haul!

Sunday, 27 March 2011

I was in meadowhall yesterday and bought a few things which I wanted to share with you all.

I first went in to Debenhams and purchased one of the new Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil's.
This is in the shade 'Delinquent'. I swatched it at the counter and fell in love! It is such a beautiful vivid purple; so vibrant and the best thing about it was that once it set, I couldn't get it off even when I rubbed it vigorously. The sales assistant said that it won't crease at all so I'm hoping she is right.

I then went in to Boots and pretty much got more than I had planned on getting..

As soon as I entered Boots, a little Max Factor booth caught my eye. I initially just thought that they were re-promoting the False Lash Effect Mascara but looking closely I noticed that they have in fact come out with a new one called the 'False Lash Effect Fusion' mascara!

This mascara claims to 'volumise and lengthen' whereas the original one was for volumising only. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

They were also giving a free Smoky Eye Effect Eye shadow duo stick with it. One side has a creamy white and the other a shimmery black.

I've seen some really bad reviews on this creasing five minutes after application so I'm not really expecting much from it.

Seeing Tanya Burr from Pixi2woo (You Tube) raving about the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer I decided to purchase it. I have yet to try it out but it does feel quite creamy, I'm hoping it lasts on my oily skin without melting off.
I also wanted a highlighting pigment with a little gold in it and so purchased the Barry M Dazzle Dust in '27 Gold Iridescent'.
This looks very 'gold' but once blended out looks much more subtle.

The last thing I got from Boots was a Revlon Super Lustrous Lip gloss in 'Pink Afterglow'.
This looks a lot more red in photo's (I should have just taken the photo's in daylight) but in real life it is a bright pink.

The last place I went in to was Superdrug.
I bought the MUA blush in shade 4. I think this shade might be a little too light for me. On the other hand, my face is actually lighter than my hand so it might work.
I was surprised at the quality of this blush, it isn't too powdery and it seems to be very smooth which I hope, means that it will be easy to apply. At £1, it seems great value!

I bought my first Sleek palette in 'Storm' and I am amazed at the quality of the eye shadows! I never really believed the hype and thought they couldn't be that good.. but was I wrong! With just one swipe, I was so surprised at the pigmentation of these eye shadows. The colours are so pretty; I can't wait to start using this palette! The only thing was that the matte black eye shadow didn't seem very pigmented. The rest however are beautiful!

Lastly, I bought a new dry shampoo. I have tried Batiste Blush dry shampoo but with my dark brown hair it just left me looking like I had dandruff! Obviously it wasn't aimed at people with dark hair.

This new one is specifically for dark and deep brown hair. I haven't tried it yet but as long as it is as good as the original but without the white-ish colour, I think I'll like it.

I need to stay away from meadowhall for the next few weeks I think. It brings out the shopoholic in me!

Review: The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover

Friday, 25 March 2011

I was on the lookout for a good eye make up remover since I started wearing make up. I wanted something that was not greasy, didn't sting or irritate my eyes and was affordable. At The Body Shop a very friendly sales assistant raved about this remover so I thought I would give it a try.
It is priced at £3 for the 60ml bottle, and £8 for 250ml which is the one I bought. The consistency is just like water; a clear, runny liquid. There is no sign of any oiliness. I haven't noticed a smell at all either which is an advantage because not every one likes fragranced products.

I usually use a cotton pad to remove my make up. This removes all traces of eye make up and I find it really easy to get rid of mascara. It doesn't sting at all; it most definitely is a 'gentle' make up remover.

All in all, this is an eye make up remover that is affordable and does the job really well. What more could you ask for?

NOTD: E.L.F Pearl Pink

I was feeling really spring-y and wanted something light and pretty on my nails today.

I didn't expect to like this shade that much because I thought it wouldn't look that good on my skin tone but I think it is really pretty. I needed three coats to get it to look like this, although it didn't take very long to dry. I have quite a collection of E.L.F nail polishes- I'm pretty sure you might have guessed how much I like E.L.F as a brand by now!

Do you own any E.L.F nail polishes? What do you think of them?

Review: E.L.F Mineral Lipsticks

Thursday, 24 March 2011

Lipstick's for me are one of my most favourite products which is why I have so many different colours and varieties. I chose to review the E.L.F Mineral Lipsticks because they are affordable, the packaging is gorgeous and the product is high quality.
I have seven of the sixteen shades. All these lipsticks are gorgeous in colour. The only one that didn't suit me at all is 'Natural Nymph'. This is because it is a nude and generally nude's don't look good on me. They are creamy and easy to apply. Pretty much all of them are really pigmented except 'Rosy Raisin', which is a little more sheer, but that is the one I like the best! It suits my skin tone perfectly and looks gorgeous for a natural look.
The first four are the shades that can be worn every day. They are also some of the more popular shades. All apart from 'Natural Nymph' I think would suit most skin tones.

- 'Natural Nymph' is a creamy nude. I can't really wear it unless I put a different coloured gloss on top. It will suit fair skin tones.

- 'Nicely Nude' is a nude-pink. It is definitely more wearable and still looks natural.

- 'Runway Pink' is a light pink. This also doesn't look as good on me as it would someone with fair skin.

- 'Rosy Raisin' is a pinkish brown. It would look great on anyone with medium toned skin.

These are the slightly darker shades which I mainly purchased to try out as I don't  have any darker, red colours in my collection.

- 'Cool Coral' is a coral with a gold sheen. I will definitely be rocking it this summer!

- 'Barely Bitten' is a pinkish red and it is very wearable especially for medium skin tones.

- 'Royal Red' is a deep red, almost burgundy. It is a really pretty colour but for obvious reasons, it can't be worn every day.

I really like the E.L.F Studio and Mineral lines. They are both good value for money. Most of their products are priced lower than a lot of the drugstore brands and their quality sometimes exceeds them- worth trying out!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream Review

Tuesday, 22 March 2011

I just wanted to do a quick post on my favourite eye cream. I haven't used or tried that many to be honest but this is one that I bought and have loved.
This cream claims to 'Help reduce appearance of fine lines, puffiness and dark circles'. I have been using it for just over 4 months and the main reason I use it is for hydration. I do feel like it hydrates my under eye area quite well.
It isn't very thick in consistency but still feels quite creamy. It glides on pretty easily and not a lot of product is needed. My skin can be quite sensitive at times but I didn't react to this at all. I think it has helped with my dark circles; although they never were that dark to begin with.

I didn't see an immediate difference to my under eyes but I don't think any cream really would have made a difference right away. For me it is just about maintaining the condition of my eyes and trying to prevent fine lines as I get older.

Generally, I just like the way this cream feels on my eyes at night and I feel like I am taking good care of them.

120 Palette Review

Monday, 21 March 2011

The 120 eyeshadow palette is one of many eye shadow palette's which companies like Coastal Scents, BH Cosmetics, and Manly sell.  I personally purchased mine from Ebay. I think it is worth buying these type of palette's from Ebay because they are exactly the same but sold at a fraction of the price.

My 120 palette cost £18.99 (if memory serves me correctly). This is cheaper than most of the companies I mentioned because not only did I get the palette, I also received a brush set too. I don't use the brushes though, except a concealer brush and an angled liner brush because I have brushes that do a better job. The palette however is gorgeous!
I think it is pretty amazing how many eye shadow's you get for the low price. There is almost every colour you could want to put on your eye lids in this palette. As you can probably tell, my palette is pretty beat up but that is because I use it so much. I love experimenting with different colours and never keep any boundaries... which sometimes can end in disaster!

I was really surprised at the pigmentation of the eye shadows as well. The palette does have a mixture of shimmers and matte's. The shimmers definitely have more pigmentation than matte's but all the colour's are beautiful.

There are a so many shades. If you want a neutral, smoky or colourful eye, this palette will suit everyone. There are even some neon colours which could be fun to experiment with.

Some of the shadows are a little chalky but the majority I found to be really smooth and they lasted a lot longer than some other eye shadows I have tried.

Overall, I think it is worth getting this palette. I always go to this palette when I want to add some colour to my look and there are a couple of brown's that I really love too.

My Bangle Collection

Being a Pakistani by origin, I love how diverse our culture is. There are so many beautiful things about it that are hidden from most people in the west. I thought I would share one fragment of Indian/Pakistani culture with you.
I have accumulated these bangles over a number of years. In Pakistani culture these bangles can be worn at any occasion. Most of them however, I tend to wear at weddings or festivals that we have.

I purchased the bangle holder when I went on holiday to Pakistan and I adore it. It stores all my bangles and looks so pretty in my room. It also makes the bangles easily accessible which is really useful when I am getting ready to go somewhere. The detailing on the side of the holder is gorgeous too!

I probably have a shade of bangles for every formal outfit that I have (which could be considered as having too many!) but I love them. It gives a very feminine look and brightens up even the dullest of outfits.

I'll be putting up a post tomorrow on the 120 eye shadow palette so keep an eye out for that!

Love-Makeup Haul

Friday, 18 March 2011

I was waiting on this package for a few days and I was really excited when it arrived!
In the past I have heard so much about Crown brushes and how they are great value for money, so I decided to try some out and see how I like them.
I've been using these brushes for a couple of days now and am mainly liking the Contour Blush Brush. That's not to say that the rest of them are not good but this is the one that I am enjoying the most. I suppose it will be easier to judge whether they are good quality once they have been washed a few times.

I also got some Stars Makeup Haven eye shadows, which I haven't come across in the UK before but watched a few reviews on You Tube and saw how well pigmented they looked.

These eye shadow's are amazing in pigmentation! They are much cheaper than other high end eye shadow's but are still really good in quality.

Lastly I got a few NYX products. I seem to be trying out a lot of their make up lately and am really impressed! They are right up there with MAC when it comes to quality of blushes and eye shadows. I actually like NYX lip glosses better.
I got an eye shadow pigment in 'Red'. I always find it really difficult to find a good red eye shadow. This one, I wore yesterday with a couple of other colours and it looked absolutely gorgeous. It is really easy to blend too.

I already have a NYX lip gloss in 'African Queen' which I love and I wanted to get another one which is more of an every day, wearable lip gloss. 'Candy Shop' is a pretty pink with gold shimmer. I really like how these lip glosses are not sticky at all and the pigmentation is great too.

Love-Makeup is a site where I love getting make up from. They have hard to find products and a lot of limited edition make up too.

My giveaway will be closing at 6pm on Sunday 20th March; don't forget to enter!

My Favourite Eye Brushes

Thursday, 17 March 2011

I'm loving the gorgeous weather today, it makes me want to go into town but I don't want to risk it because I know I'll end up at the make up section in every shop! Since I'm budgeting (supposedly) I think I'll just stay away for now.

I found it quite easy to pick out my favourite eye brushes because obviously all I had to do was see which ones I reached for the most on a daily basis.
The first brush is E.LF's Eyeshadow 'C' Brush. This is from the Studio line and retails at only £3.50.
The bristles are synthetic and really densely packed. They are also really soft and don't scratch your skin at all when you use it. This brush picks up and applies product really well. For an all over lid brush this is great.

The second brush is MAC's 217 blending brush.

I absolutely love this brush! It is the perfect size for blending eyeshadow in the crease and fits on my eye really well. If there was one MAC eye brush that you wanted to buy, I would definitely recommend getting this one. It blends effortlessly and definitely makes you look like a pro with eyeshadow application.

The last brush is by Sigma. I have the one with the old numbering which is the SS219 or E30 and I bought this from Love Makeup.

This is a pencil brush. It is really good for the crease in my opinion and also for applying product on the lower lash line. It doesn't flare out too much and gives a very precise application.

All three of these brushes are really good quality; I have washed them countless times and have found that they don't shed at all and are just as soft as they were when I first bought them.

It is too gorgeous outside to stay in so I'm off out. Have a great day x

NYX, MAC and Medusa's Makeup Haul!

Wednesday, 16 March 2011

Firstly I just want to say thank you to all my followers, it's amazing being able to share my love for make up with others. Being able to talk about it all is amazing, especially as none of my family and friends are into it as much as I am!

So, I received a few items in the post and thought I would share them with you.

These are from Genie Cosmetics and Cocktail Cosmetics. Both these companies sell discounted cosmetics which is great when you want to save a little money.

For me it was the first time trying out Medusa's Makeup products. I don't think they are that well known but their pigments are quite popular. I got 'Golden Boy' which is a bright, almost yellow gold and 'Full Moon' which is almost the same as 'Pink Opal' by MAC. It looks white but on the skin it has quite a prominent pink sheen. These pigments are absolutely gorgeous, they don't disappear when blending and look beautiful.

I also purchased the MAC pigment in 'Melon'. This is really popular and I just love this colour on my lids, it is a golden peach and is really pretty. I also got 'Twinks' ('Dirty plum with gold reflects') eyeshadow in pan form, to add to my Z palette. It is great as a crease colour when you want to do a neutral eye.

'Smolder' is a black eye kohl. I only ever use Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On in 'Zero' but I wanted to try something different. For me it seems to be living up to my expectations and lasts a long time on my waterline with minimal smudging.
No Flash
With Flash
The two lipstick I got are MAC's 'High Tea' which is a pinky beige. 'Tea Rose' by NYX is a salmon pink and although I've never worn a colour like this before, I love it on my lips.
'High Tea' is a lustre finish which is one of my favourites. I like shades like these because although they are kind of nude, they really compliment my NW30 skin.

NYX lipsticks as always, are creamy and on my lips they last for a really long time. I also find that they are quite moisturising too which is a definite plus.

I'm actually really happy with all my purchases and that rarely happens when getting things online.

I've got another haul coming up soon with some Crown Brushes that I'm excited to try out.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway which is open until Sunday 20th March!
