Review: Vera Wang Princess

Thursday, 5 January 2012

Perfume's are something I have always loved since I was a teenager. At that time I had one signature scent which I wore and stuck to it for a long time (Moschino Cheap & Chic anyone? The green and orange bottle!) but obviously as I grew older, my taste changed and although I suppose my requirements for a perfume hasn't matured to the likes of sophistication, I think it is suitably 'grown up' now.

I still do like the flirty, fruity and sweet scents which I think is nice for dull days when you just don't feel that perky. I find myself going more towards these types of smells because they make me feel happy.

'Princess' by Vera Wang is so popular amongst the younger generation and women in their early 20's. I know I mention it a lot, but YouTube has a huge influence on whether I want to try something out or not.
The bottle of this perfume is one of its' greatest attractions. It has a gorgeous look to it which fits the name perfectly. The lid being a little crown and the heart shaped bottle makes it very girly looking. It is a glass bottle and the whole packaging is of good quality.

There is a ring attached under the lid which can be removed and worn, although I don't- I like the way it looks on the bottle.

What the website says about the fragrance,

'Created for the modern day Princess, this sheer, fruity floral fragrance is definitely born to rule! The scent sparkles with the captivating, sweet, tart aroma of delicate lady apples and the coveted tahitian tiare flower and finishes with a tasty vanilla chiffon - a treat fit for royalty!'

I definitely feel the floral fruitiness, it is light but not unnoticeable. It is a delicate scent which is not overbearing either.

I have been wearing this a lot since I got it, which was only a couple of months ago.

Have you tried this perfume? What did you think?

MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer VS Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection

Sunday, 1 January 2012

I have used a number of concealer's over the years but there have only been a few which I can really say work well for me.

Since there are a lot of similarities between MAC's Select Cover-Up and the Collection 2000 Lasting perfection concealer, I thought I would compare the two and maybe decide which I prefer.
The packaging for both products is very obviously different. The shade's I have are, Medium 3 for the Collection 2000 concealer and NW25 for the MAC concealer.

Although the doe foot applicator does make it a little more unhygienic to apply the concealer, I do like the way it applies. The MAC concealer on the other hand is very hygienic and as you are only squeezing product out of the tube, you tend not to waste any either.

On the picture above it does seem like the Collection 2000 concealer is lighter, which it is, slightly, but once blended, there is barely any difference at all!
As you can see, they both blend in very well and look pretty much the same when applied.

For the consistency, the Collection 2000 concealer is a little drier and you do need to blend it a little quicker. However, it does look absolutely flawless once it has been applied.

The MAC concealer is wetter and takes longer to blend in but gives almost the same finish. I feel like I need to use less of this to get the desired effect.

Packaging wise, I am kind of stuck between the two. I do feel like it would be difficult to get all the product out with the Collection 2000 concealer because it is in a tube but it is considerably cheaper.

MAC's Select Cover-Up is priced at £13.50 whereas the Collection 2000 concealer will set you back just £3.69.

I probably will not buy the MAC concealer again simply because I feel like both concealers do a similar job but Collection 2000 is just a more affordable brand.

Have you tried these concealers? What did you think?
