Review: St. Ives Apricot Scrub

Tuesday, 6 March 2012

There have been so many mixed reviews on the St. Ives Apricot Scrub so I thought I would give my own opinion on it as well since I have been using it for the last two months.

After reading some reviews, I did worry that this product would not be suitable for my face. It has been known to break people out and that was the last thing I needed! Seeing the price tag though, a reasonable £3.99 at Boots, I thought it was worth a try at least.

The scrub is pretty creamy and has exfoliating particles in it. It doesn't foam up when it is applied, which is pretty normal for a scrub. Application is easy- I use about a one pence coin sized amount and use my fingers to very lightly massage it into my skin. I make sure I am very gentle as I don't want to do any damage either.

I wash it off pretty quickly and as I usually use it in the shower, it gets everything off very easily. There are two types available and I use the one for oily/blemish prone skin.

I find that this scrub does not break me out and using it once weekly is more than enough. It is quite harsh which would probably be bad for the skin if it was used more than a couple of times in a week. Obviously, this varies depending on each individual depending on how sensitive our skin is.

I like that this scrub cleans my face so well. It gets rid of all the dirt and makes my skin feel smooth.

Overall, I would have to say that although I really like this scrub, I might consider trying other ones out in the future to see how they compare. Having said that, I like this one a lot and will continue to use it as well.

Have you tried it yet? What did you think?

  1. I use this once a week. Also a big fan of this product! :)

  2. i might try this out ive been looking for a new face scrub!

  3. I've been using St Ives since 2003. Yup, it really work (^_______^)v

  4. I used to use this all the time back when my skin wouldn't behave itself, but then I went on my usual epic 'what if there's something even better?' journey and never came back to it. I might have to, my skin is dry as hell because of all the heating at work.

  5. It definitely does work, but (like you Lydia) I keep wondering if there is anything better out there!

  6. i want to try this and thought that we wouldn't get this in Boots, but i'll deffo go to the Boots store near by. Have you used the Green Tea scrub by St.Ives yet? :o

  7. I always found St Ives to be a nice safe and cheap option. If I can afford it I'll buy a different scrub, as there are definitely better ones out there, but this one I can rely on if I don't want to spend too much money. It never ever broke me out either!

  8. i dont use it hehe :) but will give it a try soon ~

  9. I have been using this for 5 years and I love it. I use it everyday in the shower! It's like a mini facial massage and always leaves my skin super clean and helps my dry skin. My wallet also loves it!
A more expensive brand that I found really nice is philosophy's microdelivery exfoliating wash, the grains are much finer and it has no scent (although I don't mind st.Ive's scent).
