First Impressions: Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

Friday, 7 December 2012

It has been a long time coming, I find it strange now that I held out for so long! In this case, I do wish I had just gone ahead and got it- the Naked 2 palette!

I do already own the first one and got it when it first came out a few years ago. It quickly became a favourite. With this palette though, I did wonder whether it could compare at all to that or whether I would care for it as much.

It only took a few swatches before I decided I could definitely make good use of it.

The first thing that is different from the first Naked palette is that you get a lipstick with it instead of a primer potion. Not having tried these particular lip glosses by Urban Decay before, I was pretty happy to try it.

It is quite sheer, but I did like the consistency of it when I applied it to my lips. So far, so good!

The dual ended brush, although very soft, I didn't feel like it would be the best for eye shadow application. The blending side though, I do think will work better. That remains to be seen though, once I have used it a few times.

Lastly, of course, the palette itself!

Seeing the shades in the palette, they all look pretty gorgeous! I particularly liked the look of Pistol, Snakebite, Tease and Foxy. I already have Blackout in my 15 year anniversary palette so I automatically knew I loved it.

Here are the swatches!
Left to Right: Foxy, Half Baked, Bootycall

Chopper, Tease, Snakebite

Suspect, Pistol, Verve

YDK, Busted, Blackout
Upon swatching them, there was just one shade, Chopper that I know I probably will not use too much, not because of the shade but because of the amount of fall out it seems to have.

Other than that, I am most definitely impressed with this palette. I have found myself mostly gearing towards neutral colours anyway and this is a nice addition to the first Naked palette. It still gives me shades I would wear everyday but I feel like it makes up for the few shades I wished the first one had.

What do you think of this palette?

  1. Naked 2 palette has got beautiful colours, and as i am not very good in eye makeup this would be perfect for me as neutral eye shadows tend to be more forgiving than the bright coloured ones.

    1. Definitely true. I actually prefer this one to the first Naked palette x

  2. I skipped it, although if both 1 and 2 came out at the same time, I probably would grab #2 instead of #1. It has really nice neutral colors, leaning more cool and subtle shimmer. I just think it's a bit redundant to own both in my case. Not that I don't have anything redundant :D but I don't love UD eyeshadows that much. Great swatches and reviews!

    1. I agree, i don't use the first one as much, especially since I bought this one. It is perfect!

  3. it looks so nice, I want it sooo bad :)
