Review: Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner

Friday, 13 April 2012
Hiya,

I picked up the gel liner by Maybelline, which is very popular with a lot of bloggers, to see how it compares with MAC's fluidlines. I find myself comparing MAC to a lot of brands these days, I guess it is because I have found much better alternatives recently and those alternatives have also been a lot easier to afford!

My March Favourites

Wednesday, 4 April 2012
Hiya,

In the month of March, I have tried really hard to use products that I had been neglecting. It was nice to just look into the make up I already have and to rediscover products that I loved in the past.

1. The Body Shop Vanilla Body Mist

This is a great body mist to use on the go as it, very obviously smells like vanilla and is not so expensive that you would worry about losing it if you are out. I find that very often, body sprays like these do not last that long and you need to respray quite often. In this case though, I found that it does actually last a pretty long time. It is well worth giving it a try!

2. MAC Tendertone in Deep Sigh

Even though this does look pretty brownish, it is very sheer and actually looks really pretty. I only picked this up from my collection again because of the new collection that recently came out with tendertones. It smells lovely too, which, from what I know is a strawberry and kiwi scent.

3. NYX blush in Desert Rose

This is a really pretty, dusky pink. It flatters my NW30 skin tone really well and makes my face look fresh and healthy, which is a look I definitely prefer on a day to day basis. The NYX blushes blend so well and are very pigmented. For the price, they are definitely worth trying out.

4. ELF Mineral lipstick in Barely Bitten

The mineral lipsticks by ELF are very affordable at just £3.50 and the colour pay off on them is great. They don't dry out my lips and last a decent amount of time. I have mainly just been loving this shade. It isn't a bright red, it is much more toned down and looks very pretty and kind of rosy on the lips. With a simple eye look, this is gorgeous.

5. Soap&Glory Smoulder Kohl

I used MAC's Smolder eye kohl for a long time and decided to try something different. When I saw that Soap&Glory came out with their own makeup line, I had to try this out. This liner is so pigmented and as it is waterproof, lasts on my water and lash line for a long time! It does not smudge or flake and it is only £5 which is half the price of a lot of pencil liners.

6. MAC 239 Shader brush

The size of this brush is perfect to pack on eyeshadow on to my eyelid. It fits perfectly and applies product evenly. I have tried quite a few brushes of this type but I find that this works for me the best annd I have been using it a lot in the month of march.

7. Z Palette and the eye shadows in it

I have a mixture of MAC, Urban Decay, Stila, Yaby, Stars Makeup Haven and Ruby&Millie eyeshadows in this Z Palette. I have been using this a lot for the last month because it has pretty much every neutral eyeshadow that I like to use on a a daily basis. I love the idea of the Z palette and having all of the eyeshadows I want in the same place is a perfect way to avoid neglecting makeup.

Overall for last month, I definitely have been going back to my old favourites and using up what I already have. I feel like I have been wasting a lot less this way and still discovering how much I love certain products which I may not have really looked at previously.

What was your favourite product last month?

3 Reasons Why I Love Blogging

Tuesday, 3 April 2012
Hiya,

I have been very sparse with my blog posts recently, which is about to change but I was just reflecting on why I seem to come back to it even when sometimes I feel like I should stop.

1. Communication

I absolutely love speaking about the things I like. Make up is one of those things and since my hubby, understandably has zero interest in make up, blogging is the perfect way to express myself. I love speaking to others who also love make up like I do. I love knowing that whenever I want to know about the latest product release (Revlon lip butters!), the worst eyeliner ever or just when I want to get some advice, I can just come here and on twitter where there are so many lovely ladies who are happy to advise.

2. A great hobby

Especially for a mum of two, who doesn't very often get to have adult conversation during the day, it is the perfect outlet. I can speak about the things I love and I know that I will always learn from everyone in the blogging world too.

3. Uninfluenced expression

I'm not even sure if that makes sense.. I feel great being able to while away my spare time doing something that I enjoy. I feel even greater being able to write about things that are fun without being dictated on how to do it.

If I had not started this blog when I did, I don't know what I would have done. I have discovered a world, cheesy as it sounds, that is pretty amazing. The people I have got to know are so lovely. Who knew that there were so many amazing beauty bloggers out there?

I have had it on my mind to post this for some time, I thought that maybe I really was being too cheesy, but then who cares? This is my blog and I love it!
