Review: Natural Collection Lipsticks

Thursday, 31 January 2013
Hiya,

I love finding affordable products that are just as good as higher end, more expensive brands. The Natural Collection by Boots, is just that!

I decided to try out a couple of the lipsticks to see how well they work. I had previously tried out one of the lipsticks but it broke and was just unusable so I got another, along with another shade.

Biscuit

Biscuit

Biscuit
Autumn Glow

Autumn Glow

Autumn Glow
These lipsticks are quite sheer but that is actually something I like about them because these two shades in particular are darker, almost browns and with one layer on the lips, they just give a hint of colour.

The best thing about these is that they are priced at £1.99 which is one of the cheapest lipsticks I have ever bought!

Pro's

- Cheap
- Smooth, easy to apply

Con's

- Not incredibly pigmented

I think, for someone who cannot (or even can) afford to get more expensive make up, the Natural Collection is a good brand to try out. I have tried a few products and been pretty impressed!

Review: Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss- Pink Afterglow

Wednesday, 30 January 2013
Hiya,

I am not a big lip gloss fan. I think the main reason is because I don't really enjoy a sticky, goopy feel on my lips and I prefer to be able to feel my actual lips when I have a product on.

Having said that, I do enjoy trying new ones out as I hear so much about some of them; curiosity gets the better of me!

I thought Revlon would be a good place to try lip glosses out as their lip products in general are really good.

Favourite's: January 2013

Hiya,

A month has passed so quickly and it is really something I have been thinking about recently. How we don't even realise it and our lives just pass us by. We really should make the most of what ability we have, to make it into something positive and to influence the people around us in a good way. Who knows what is around the corner?

Well, I guess to lighten the mood a little, here are some products I have been having a lot of fun using and some, that have been saving me from looking awful some of the time!

Review: ELF Brush Shampoo and Demo

Tuesday, 29 January 2013
Hiya,

I have been using just one brush shampoo since I have started blogging. The reason is because as soon as it was released, I tried it out and just really liked it. After that, I never bothered to look for anything else.

Products I Regret Buying

Hiya,

I guess everyone, at some point will have to admit that sometimes some products just do not work out for you and it was a total waste of money buying them! I have come across a few which I just wish I had not bought.

Review: Jason Lips Bee Healthier Lip Balm

Monday, 28 January 2013
Hiya,

I received the Jason lip balm a few weeks ago in the January Glossybox. I was sceptical when I opened it and first tried it because it seemed dry.

My MAC Lipstick Collection

Hiya,

I have tried out a number of MAC lipsticks but there are only a few which I have either not sold in a blog sale or given away to friends and family. I do like their lipsticks though, I think that they do some of the nicest lipsticks but the shades/finish for me, can be hit or miss.

Review: Ben Nye Banana Powder

Sunday, 27 January 2013
Hiya,

The Banana Powder by Ben Nye has been raved about plenty of times. So much so that I just had to try it out for myself.

Bargain Purchase: Acrylic Lipstick Holder

Hiya,

Not long ago, I discovered a lipstick holder, thanks to Aaliyah of PyariBeauty which was available for £2.65 including delivery! What a bargain! So I got a couple of these and am loving them.

JustFab: The Taj Mahal Bag

Saturday, 26 January 2013
Hiya,

I have been away for a number of days now because I have just been too busy with the family and other work which has been incredibly busy!

Having said that, I did get the time to get a hold of my first JustFab bag! The Taj Mahal bag.

NARS Sheer Glow VS Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Tuesday, 22 January 2013
Hiya,

I like doing comparison posts because I think you really get a feel of how similar two products are. I have two foundations which I really love pretty much equally. They are both similar in a lot of ways but there is a huge price difference between the two.

Review: MAC Stereo Rose

Monday, 21 January 2013
Hiya,

So one of the most coveted make up products by MAC was available about a month ago now. I had been wanting it since around 2010 but had come to accept the fact that I probably would not be able to get a hold of it!

But, since MAC re-released it, I thought that this was a good chance to finally try it out.

Blog Sale: Urban Decay, Too Faced, MAC, Illamasqua, Deborah Lipmann, Revlon, Sleek

Saturday, 19 January 2013
Hiya,

So after putting my Clarisonic Mia up for sale I decided to rummage through my makeup collection and sell what I have either just swatched, or very lightly used.

The rules,

1. Paypal (gift) only as the method of payment.

2. Comment below with your email address.

3. Payment to be made within 24 hours once you have received an email from me.

4. Postage is £1.50 for UK.

5. I will post the day after payment has been made (As long as it isn't the weekend!).

6. No returns please.

7. UK only this time, sorry. Only reason is because postage is usually too high and it isn't worth it for you (but if you're willing to pay the postage I might make an exception).

8. Make me an offer and I might accept.

Urban Decay Show Pony Palette- all shadows used once (£8)

Blog Sale: Clarisonic Mia in Lavender

Hiya,

I bought the Clarisonic Mia last year in May. I just found myself not using it at all after the first few times and it has been sitting there. I like my Olay brush cleansing system and maybe I am just used to it?

I had even bought an extra brush head for it which was never used!

As a result, I decided that I have had this sat in its box for long enough. It is time to just sell it.

Review: Dior Amber Diamond Highlight

Hiya,

Dior is a brand I don't normally go for when purchasing make up. I try to do a lot of research into a product if it is in the higher, luxury end of the scale. In this case, I waited a long time before I made the decision to buy it.

Review: YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in #5 Beige Etrusque

Friday, 18 January 2013
Hiya,

I only own a few high end, luxury brands of lipstick (I wouldn't consider MAC as one of the luxury brands) and YSL has been a brand that I have mainly tried because there is always just so much to be heard about it!

I got the YSL lipstick in #5 Beige Etrusque over a year ago but never thought to review it.

2 Week Spending Ban Update!

Thursday, 17 January 2013
Hiya,

I realise I am very late with this post. I have been so busy in the last couple of days that I have barely even been able to look at my blog!

As for my second week of no buying makeup, I have to say it does get difficult occasionally. I think it is probably because I have seen the early release of the Rimmel Apocalips on Facebook and a number of other good offers too.

Glossybox UK: January 2013

Tuesday, 15 January 2013
Hiya,

I just received the Glossybox for January 2013 and I am pleasantly surprised!

This month I have really stepped up my skincare routine and have tried really hard to make sure I am taking care of it. I am about to run out of my face cleanser and wanted to get another one soon. I also have been wanting to try out new skincare products but because of the ban, I couldn't do that... which automatically makes me think, am I actually allowed to stay subscribed to Glossybox?? I think I probably will as it it will be annoying to have to unsubscribe and then subscribe again, although I do feel like I am cheating a little bit! I have decided though, that apart from the face cleanser (as I would have purchased another one as a necessity), I will not use any of my Glossybox products until the ban is over!

On to January's box! I am more than a little pleased with what came in the box, I wasn't expecting it to be that good because there was a special box for December.

Review: Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

Monday, 14 January 2013
Hiya,

I have had the Naked 2 palette for quite some time now even though it was released over a year ago now. I hesitated a lot in getting it because I was not sure I would like it, especially already owning the first Naked palette. I now feel like I wish I had bought it earlier!

Review: Natural Collection Peach Melba

Sunday, 13 January 2013
Hiya,

I normally would never have looked at the Natural Collection line had I not come across certain blogs and YouTuber's. Having put it in line with Miss Sporty, for some reason I always thought it was more of a teenagers brand that was not that good; probably not a good way to think!

I have now used a few of their products and must say, what a pleasant surprise!

2013 Wishlist!

Hiya,

Since I am on a 100 day ban (yes I know I don't stop going on about it), I wanted to make up a wish list so I don't forget what I want to try. I can see this list get longer and longer as the weeks go by!

1. Bare Minerals Foundation

2. Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers

3. Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer

4. Skin 79 Super+ BB Cream

5. Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Liner in Black

I will update this as and when I realise I am thinking too much about a certain product! The only problem is, what will I actually have saved after this ban if I end up spending it on all of the above products?

Worrying...

Review: Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Saturday, 12 January 2013
Hiya,

I have loved both the Naked and the Naked 2 palette's that have been released in the last few years. After Urban Decay released the first one, many other brands came out with their own version, some of which were also pretty amazing!

The latest one Urban Decay has released is the Naked Basics palette. In the past, the palette's have had mostly shimmers with a couple of matte shades but the Basics palette is (almost) all matte's!

Review: NYX Blush in Desert Rose

Hiya,

NYX blushes are widely known to be of great quality. They are very pigmented, smooth and the blend really well. I have not been able to fault them in an way either.

Review: MeMeMe Beat the Blues Sunbeam

Friday, 11 January 2013
Hiya,

I have seen a lot of reviews and experienced using some products by BeneFit that have been duped by a number of different brands. One of them, is MeMeMe. There is one product I have tried from them that I really think is the same, but at a much better price!

2012 Favourite's: Setting Powder (Under Eyes)

Hiya,

So this is my last favourite's post, I was thinking it was probably better to just do a couple of posts with all the products together. But it is probably easier to look for the types of products this way!

So there is only one product I have used all year to set the concealer under my eyes.

2012 Favourites: Mascara

Thursday, 10 January 2013
Hiya,

When it comes to mascara, I am very picky! I find that there are not a lot of mascara's that do a good job for me. I have very long lashes that are thick but also quite straight. They definitely need a coat or two of mascara to make them look half decent.

I have two favourite's for 2012. I did discover a new one which I was pretty pleased with.

2012 Favourites: Lip Balm

Wednesday, 9 January 2013
Hiya,

I have tried out so many lip balms in the last year and rejected quite a few of them too.

There was one that I had got in November but I have misplaced it which I was upset about because I did love it! It was the Burt's Bees Mango lip balm and it is amazing! I will definitely buy another one once I finish my others.

Another favourite of mine has been the Carmex lip balm.

2012 Favourites: Lipsticks

Hiya,

When it came to choosing my favourite lipsticks, I just could not decide. There were too many that I really loved!

2012 Favourites: Lip Gloss/Stains

Tuesday, 8 January 2013
Hiya,

I am not a big fan of lip gloss but I do have one type that I enjoyed last year. I also discovered lip stains which I am just in love with!

1 Week Spending Ban Update!

Hiya,

Although it has been over a week since I started the ban, I did want to give an update on it.

So, why is it that as soon as you decide you won't be spending money on make up, special offers just pop up everywhere you go? I have been steadily avoiding make up web sites because I just don't want to risk it but, I am subscribed to most of them. Which means, every day I will get numerous emails telling me about products that are on sale, half price, 40% off, free delivery... you get the gist.

It's so frustrating!

But, on the other hand, have I spent any money at all on beauty related items?

NO!

Yes, I say that with a big grin because I feel like I really have accomplished something! If I can get through one week, I can easily do 100 days! Right?......

I am sure this time next week I will probably be sulking at having missed out on an amazing offer.. but then, I am sure an even better offer will come about as soon as I finish this ban. Either that or, everything I want will be limited edition and sold out.

As you can probably tell, yes I am kind of having withdrawal symptoms. But I will get over it! I will get through this just like everyone else who has got themselves into this madness!

Have you had any thoughts on trying this '100 Day I Am Completely Crazy Not Buying Makeup, Being A Beauty Blogger' thing? Let me know your thoughts!

I decided to do a five winner giveaway because I feel like that way a lot of you will be able to experience some of the products that I really love!

1. MAC Guilty passions Lip Set

Haul: Stila Lip Products

Hiya,

So I got the package I had been waiting for. Kaushal from Beauty-Fulfilled was wearing one of these and seeing it on her was pretty much what made me get them.

2012 Favourites: Foundation

Sunday, 6 January 2013
Hiya,

I have not really delved into trying out different foundations in 2012. I think I just didn't want to spend the money on just trying on out only to be disappointed. I am also, these days in two minds about what kind of a foundation I want. With full coverage, I can hide a lot but I do prefer more breathable ones and I think I will search for something this year which covers reasonably but feels very light.

Having said that, the NARS Sheer Glow foundation has been one that I have enjoyed in the last year.

I like the medium coverage, the way it feels and looks! The only thing about this that I would say was a slight downside is that it does get my skin looking shiny after a few hours. Although, I doubt it is entirely the foundation at fault. My T-zone area can get oily. That being said, I still love it and just touch it up when needed.

I think I will probably purchase again when I run out because this is like a staple item in my collection. When I don't know which way to turn, I go with this foundation.

Are there any foundations you can recommend?

2012 Favourites: Face Primer

Hiya,

Face primers are not my favourite. I rarely find something that I will stick to because sooner or later I feel like it doesn't do much for my skin. That was until I found this.

BeneFit is a brand that is hit and miss with me. There are some products of theirs that I really love and then there are those, which I feel are over-hyped and just not all that special.

This is definitely one of their best products in my opinion! I love how this makes my skin feel smooth, it reduces the visibility of pores and just gives a lovely base to the foundation that goes on top. It also helps foundation to last longer on the skin, making it look more natural than it would normally look.

This was a great buy of 2012. What was your favourite face primer?

Haul: MAC, Ben Nye

Hiya,

I have recently got a hold of some limited edition products with one that I have always heard about but never had the chance to experience myself!

The photo's did not come out too well (I took them in the evening) but I am very excited about some of these things!

2012 Favourites: Eyeshadow Palette's

Saturday, 5 January 2013
Hiya,

I love getting palette's. The main reason being, because you get more for your money usually, especially higher end palette's. I have a few favourite's, both higher end and drugstore. I think I find eyeshadow's the most fun when experimenting.

2012 Favourites: Eye Primer

Hiya,

I have searched high and low for a good primer in the last few years. There has only been one that I have used consistently.

This is the Limecrime Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Helper. It retails for £13 and is absolutely amazing! It keeps my eye shadow on literally all day, no creasing, no fading.

Now I have oily eyelids, like really oily eyelids, and this has been fantastic! Any product that I apply after this, stays on all day. I now never have to worry about creasing during the day because I know that this will do its' job.

I would definitely buy this again and again.. The only thing is, it has been reformulated and re-released! Now I am slightly worried.. will it be the same, better or I dread to think... worse?!

After the ban, the first thing I will be trying out is the new version of this primer. I really hope it impresses, or I will have to start my search all over again!

2012 Favourites: Eyeliner's

Friday, 4 January 2013
Hiya,

Eyeliner's are so important in my opinion. It is sometimes difficult to find ones that are well pigmented, creamy enough, don't fade and don't flake off.

That is probably why I have tried quite a few and have settled on a few that I really love. Having said that though, at the end of this year my favourites will have probably changed anyway!

Firstly, I have loved Soap & Glory's Smoulder Kohl liner. It is a black liner which has worked amazingly!

It stays on the water line and does not budge. When I want to use it for smudging, it works perfectly.

Secondly, for when I want more of a subtle liner on my bottom lashes, I use the Sleek eyeliner pencil.

Although I haven't used this a lot, I like how smooth this is and how it also lasts all day.

For top liner, I like to use a cream liner because I like the ease of application with a brush and I feel it just suits me better.

This has replaced the MAC Fluidline now. It is much cheaper and does the same job! I will definitely repurchase this if I ever run out.

I do love my liner's and so it is more than possible that I will continue experimenting (once the 100 day ban is over)!

Which liner's did you enjoy in 2012?
